Pizza dough
Pizza is so easy to make, and once you have a dough prepared, takes literally minutes.
This dough is really light, and perfect for pizzas, or garlic bread. You could also use it for most bread-based recipes. Aside from waiting for the dough to rise it takes about 10 minutes to make.
This will make 6 large pizzas if you like your crust thin. Depending on the size of your oven, your baking sheets, and your belly, you might want to divide into 8 or 10 pieces. Of course if you prefer thick crust pizza you might want to make only 4 or 5.
- Makes 6 large, thin crust bases
- 1kg 00 or strong plain flour
- 650ml warm water
- 60ml olive oil
- 15g dried yeast
- 15g sugar
- 15g salt
- Mix the water, yeast, salt, and sugar.
- Sift the flour and make a well in the centre.
- Add the liquid to the flour and gradually mix until the mixture comes together as a dough.
- Knead until smooth then place in a floured bowl and cover.
- Place bowl in a dry warm room for about an hour or until doubled in size.
- Knock back the dough by placing on a floured surface and beating the air out of it.
- Divide the dough into useable pieces and refrigerate or freeze until needed.
